The iPhone and MacBook accessories I carry every day

I carry 12 accessories with my iPhone 16 and MacBook Pro 14. Four keep everything charged: a 165W Anker power bank that charges the MacBook, a slim VEGER battery with USB-C and Lightning cables built in, a 100W UGREEN charger with a retractable cable and a foldable MagFlow stand. Four put my keys, wallet and backpack in Find My. Two cases, a passport case and AirPods Pro complete the kit.

Charging: one charger, two power banks, one stand

The charger tops up the MacBook and the iPhone at the same time, and both power banks have their cables built in.

  1. 1

Anker Laptop Power Bank, 25,000 mAh, 165W

Three USB-C ports at up to 100W each, enough to charge a MacBook Pro 14 on a train. One 70 cm (2.3 ft) retractable cable and a second 30 cm one.

    • 3 USB-C
    • 2 built-in cables
  2. 2

    UGREEN Nexode 100W retractable charger

  3. 3

VEGER 10,000 mAh power bank with built-in cables

I picked it because it's slim: 0.66 in (1.6 cm) thick and 6.3 oz, it fits in a jeans pocket. It charges an iPhone 16 up to 1.7 times (maker's figure), with USB-C and Lightning cables molded into the shell.

  4. 4

    UGREEN MagFlow 2-in-1 foldable stand

iPhone in front, AirPods behind. Folded, it's 6 × 6 cm (2.4 in). It charges at 7.5W, so it's a nightstand charger.

What I'd add next (not tested yet)

I haven't tried these yet. They follow the same rule and fill gaps in what I already carry.

Not tested yet

Anker Nano MagSafe power bank, 5,000 mAh

8.6 mm thin. For days when the VEGER is too much: it snaps onto the back of the case.

Not tested yet

ESR Geo MagSafe wallet with Find My

Tracker and wallet in one, stuck to the phone. Five cards and an adjustable stand.

Not tested yet

UGREEN Nexode 65W travel adapter

US, UK and EU plugs fold into the block. Abroad, it takes the 100W's place.

Not tested yet

UGREEN Electronics organizer pouch

So the charger, power banks and trackers don't roll to the bottom of the bag.

UGREEN MagFlow Qi2 25W 2-in-1 foldable

The fast MagFlow: 25W on an iPhone 16 or newer, instead of 7.5W.

How I pick

My rule: no loose cables, nothing that scratches the phone, and anything I could lose shows up in Find My.

I only list what I use. The five ideas above stay marked "Not tested yet" until I've had them in hand.

What I left out: the MOFT stick-on laptop stand, whose adhesive wants a smooth surface while the Urban Fit case is fabric, and USB-C hubs, which a MacBook Pro 14 with HDMI and an SD slot doesn't need.

Frequently asked questions

Does a refurbished iPhone come with a charger?

Usually not. Most refurbished iPhones ship with a charging cable but no power adapter, the same as a new iPhone since the iPhone 12. Plan on a USB-C charger of at least 20W. A 100W one like my UGREEN also charges a MacBook, so one charger covers both.

Can you put an AirTag in your wallet?

You can, but an AirTag is a round puck and makes a slim wallet bulge. A card tracker such as the UGREEN FineTrack Slim is the size of a credit card, slides into a card slot and shows up in Find My like an AirTag. It only works with an iPhone.

Which power banks have a built-in Lightning cable?

The VEGER 10,000 mAh I carry has two cables molded into its shell, one USB-C and one Lightning. So it charges an iPhone 15 or later and an older Lightning iPhone without a spare cable, and an iPhone 16 up to 1.7 times, per the maker.

Can a power bank charge a MacBook Pro?

Yes, if it delivers enough USB-C power. My Anker 25,000 mAh puts out 165W in total and charges a MacBook Pro 14 on the go. A phone battery like the VEGER, capped at 22.5W, only slows the drain while the Mac is running.

Can you take AirTags and a power bank on a plane?

Yes. AirTags are allowed in carry-on and checked bags. Power banks go in your carry-on only, never in checked luggage, and under 100 Wh they need no airline approval. A 25,000 mAh battery is about 90 Wh. Some airlines also ban using a power bank during the flight, so check yours.

What accessories should you buy with a refurbished iPhone?

A USB-C charger first, since the box rarely has one, then a case for your exact model. A screen protector and a small power bank come next. For earbuds, compare refurbished AirPods Pro offers on RefurbMe.
