On July 12, 2018, Apple made a surprise announcement. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company unveiled a line of new MacBook Pros, giving people new ways to experience extraordinarily powerful technology in a stylish and lightweight laptop.
Apple has described the new system as “the most advanced notebook ever” and fans are especially eager to get their hands on it. But before buying the new technology, many want to know, when will the new MacBook Pro be refurbished?
Refurbished MacBooks are far more affordable than brand new and could potentially save you a lot of money on the high-powered systems. So let’s take a look at what the new MacBook Pro (2018) has to offer and when you can expect to see refurbished versions.
New MacBook Pro Specs (2018)
The previous line of MacBook Pro computers went on sale in mid-2017. In 2017, there were two 13-inch varieties (8GB of RAM and a 2.3GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of RAM and 3.1GHz dual-core processor), and a 15-inch model (16GB of RAM and either a 2.8GHz or 2.9GHz quad-core processor). All of these models also included Retina displays and the Touch Bar (replaces the function keys and includes TouchID).
While these devices were more than powerful enough for developers, designers, gamers, and anyone else who needs a turbo boosted system, the new MacBook Pro (2018) only improves on these specs.
The base version of the new MacBook Pro 13-inch offers a 13.3-inch crystal clear Retina display, Touch Bar, 8GB of RAM, a 2.3GHz quad-core processor (Intel’s eighth-generation Coffee Lake tech), four Thunderbolt 3 ports, 256GB of storage, and a battery life of up to 10 hours (when surfing the web wirelessly). These specs are configurable, though, allowing you to choose up to 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel processor.
There’s also a new MacBook Pro 15-inch which offers a 15.4-inch Retina display for staggeringly beautiful graphics, Touch Bar, 16GB of RAM, a 2.2GHz 6-core processor (Coffee Lake), four Thunderbolt 3 ports, 256GB of storage, and a battery life of up to 10 hours (when surfing the web wirelessly). These specs are configurable too, allowing you to choose 32GB of RAM, up to 4TB of storage, and a 6-core Intel processor of up to 2.9GHz.
Both MacBook Pros also feature True Tone technology. True Tone is extremely useful as it adjusts the lighting of the screen to account for environmental lighting conditions (e.g the sun’s glare or a light being switched on in the room).
How Much Does the New MacBook Pro Cost?
But for all of these improved technical specs, the new MacBook Pro doesn’t come cheap.
The price of the 13-inch version of the 2018 MacBook Pro starts at $1,799, while the price of the 15-inch version of the 2018 MacBook Pro starts at $2,399. These are prices that not everyone can afford.
A more affordable way to buy the new MacBook Pro is to purchase a refurbished model instead. Not only have refurbished MacBooks been tested, repaired, cleaned and are certified to be in working order, but those listed by RefurbMe also include a warranty.

Who Will Sell the New MacBook Pro Refurbished?
As the new MacBook Pro hasn’t gone on sale as refurbished just yet, it’s difficult to know for certain who will be selling it. Though, with that said, there are several existing retailers who sell high-quality refurbished MacBooks and these retailers will likely sell the new MacBook Pro (2018) as refurbished once it is available too.
Some of these refurbished MacBook retailers include Mac of All Trades, which has been selling refurbished Apple products for over 20 years and is renowned for its thorough and extensive testing process. There’s also Amazon, which works with several verified, quality third-party refurbished teams and is known for its decent range of prices as well as the expedited shipping offered by its Amazon Prime subscription. Mac of All Trades and Amazon are two of our refurbished retail partners on RefurbMe, so you can use our platform to compare prices and get the best deals.
It should be noted that Apple itself is unlikely to sell the new MacBook Pro as refurbished any time soon. Although it does offer other products as refurbished (including refurbished iPhones), it doesn’t offer newer products as refurbished because it makes more money from selling them brand new! As such, if you want to buy the new MacBook Pro at a more affordable price, buying it through platforms such as RefurbMe is the best way to do so.
