Every iPad Size Compared: Which Is Best for You? [2026]

Whether it’s the regular iPad, the iPad Pro, the iPad Air, or the iPad mini, it’s worthwhile to know everything about the iPad screen sizes and dimensions to find the perfect fit for you.

The short answer. Apple currently sells four iPads across three screen sizes: the 8.3 inch iPad mini (A17 Pro), the 11 inch iPad (A16), the iPad Air (M4) at 11 or 13 inches, and the iPad Pro (M5) at 11 or 13 inches. Every other size below belongs to a discontinued model, which is what the refurbished market runs on.

A quick look at the latest iPad model sizes

Every iPad Apple sells today, largest first. Dimensions are height by width by depth, from Apple's technical specifications on 31 July 2026.

Note that 11 and 13 inches now repeat across three lines, so the screen number alone no longer identifies an iPad.

iPad sizes

Eleven generations of the regular iPad have shipped, from 9.7 inches up to the 11 inch panel Apple uses today. The iPad 11, sold as iPad (A16) since March 2025, shares its body with the iPad 10: same 9.79 by 7.07 inch footprint, same 7 mm thickness. Apple markets the panels differently, 10.9 inch for the iPad 10 and 11 inch for the iPad 11, though its own spec sheet puts the iPad (A16) glass at 10.86 inches diagonally. Cases and keyboards cross over, so check the older row first.

iPad Pro sizes

The current iPad Pro runs an M5 chip in 11 inch and 13 inch sizes. It reached stores on 22 October 2025 and kept the body Apple introduced with the M4 in May 2024: 5.3 mm thick at 11 inches, 5.1 mm at 13 inches. As of October 2026, RefurbMe's tracking shows refurbished M5 iPad Pro stock: the 13 inch model was last in stock on 22 October 2026. The iPad Pro family's median Time-to-Refurb is 100 days after Apple announces it.

Read the generation numbers below per screen size, the way Apple's own spec sheets do. Each size counts from one. Apple's tech specs pair the 11 inch 1st generation with the 12.9 inch 3rd generation of October 2018, and the 11 inch 4th generation with the 12.9 inch 6th generation of 2022. The 2017 10.5 inch model carries no generation number at Apple at all, and appears as 1st gen in the RefurbMe catalogue. So a 4th generation 11 inch is a 2022 machine while a 4th generation 12.9 inch is a 2020 one. Read the year column to place a listing, and the size to place the ordinal.

iPad Air sizes

The iPad Air spans a wider range than any other line: 9.7 inches on the first model in 2013, up to the 13 inch panel Apple added in 2024 and kept for the M4 generation, announced 2 March 2026 and in stores from 11 March.

Size is where the Air makes its case. The 13 inch Air matches the 13 inch Pro to within a millimeter on height and width, and starts at $799 in the US against $1,299 for the Pro. You give up thinness and the Ultra Retina XDR panel, not screen area.

iPad mini sizes

Last but not least (at least in power) is the iPad mini. The first iPad mini, launched in 2012, had a screen size of 7.9″, which Apple kept unchanged until the iPad mini 6, which has an 8.3″ screen.

The current model is the iPad mini 7, sold as iPad mini (A17 Pro) since 23 October 2024. It reuses the mini 6 body exactly, and by RefurbMe's tracking the mini now reaches the refurbished market at the same pace as the standard iPad, a median Time-to-Refurb of 94 days after Apple announces it as of October 2026. The mini 6 buys the same dimensions for less.

Where to buy a refurbished iPad
